BLOOM – A Borrowed Charm Editorial

by | Aug 21, 2020

“Some Years are for Growing; but this one, this one is for Blooming.”

Owning a small business is hard, running a small business is even harder, and finding ways to bloom amidst a pandemic EVEN harder. You feel pulled in 108645780826517 different directions, all the while an ever-growing stack of to-do’s loom over your head daily, and your response/return/reaction time becomes slower and slower despite the number of hours you’re putting in. It’s been difficult to live this quote in 2020.

When you’re in a dark or scary place, there is a tendency to think you’ve been buried, but perhaps you’ve actually been planted. Meant to Bloom. This has definitely been a hard year for our clients, our “friendors”, our industry, so many of our family and friends, and all of us at Borrowed Charm. Esp. when it started on SUCH a high note, which you can read about here. However, this year has also forced us to slow down, it forced a shift in priorities, and it’s also been a year for evaluating where we’re at and how we can bloom while planted.

With so many weddings & events being shifted into fall, we’ve had a lot of down time. While things were slow, we’ve spent our time working on a lot of projects we’ve never had time for, and “behind the scenes” organization. In doing so we stumbled upon this editorial shoot that reminded us of the warm, bright, and colorful days coming and we couldn’t help but share it. It just feels like the perfect time. With COVID slowly moving behind us, we’re focusing on the all the good things, celebrating our couples, our relationships and reliving the work we find inspiring.

We’re sharing this Midcentury Modern shoot we designed, because it brings back all the feels for what initially made me LOVE this tiny business of mine. The challenge of a cohesive design, the hunt – sourcing the most perfect materials, the camaraderie of creating something beautiful with a team, not for a client, not for profit, but just because. This Editorial does just that, and we hope you enjoy it, as much as we enjoyed reliving it.

Our stunning MCM Bamboo chairs, were the base for everything for this shoot. They were new and we were in love, and they were PERFECT as a partner to the whimsy of this marigold couch. Once we began to add color through few mismatched pillows, and selecting some of our favorite pieces, the vision began to grow to life. We LOVE a good lounge, so to help round out this stunning little seating area we added our Modern Wood Side Table and Amsted

Hairpin Coffee Table all parts of a Mid Century Modern lover’s dream, which created a perfect space to sit back and relax with friends over a few cocktails.

To round out the design, we brought in large demi-johns, amber bud vases, and our fun colorful decanters and then let Gorgeous Blooms Floral Designs brighten up the space,
and work her magic creating stunning arrangements with all the fun modern vibes. We LOVE how our colorful space turned out!

ALL the heart eyes. This table for two was way too much fun to put together. Utilizing our Stella Gold Hairpin Sweetheart Table and Atticus Mod Chairs, the rest quickly came to life.

Place settings, *swoon* are our favorite, so we used palm leaves as the base to for some fun black and white modern plates and rounded it out with some fun black matte silverware. To brighten up the setting even more, we set out three various shades of whimsical goblets at each setting, a sunburst plate topper, and finished it off some odds & ends, paired unique candle sticks and floral. The table colors blended together to create a sunset-esque mirage with pops of greenery to add contrast and were the perfect pop against the walls of this hidden gem inside Rose Briar Place.

This sunny space would not have been complete without a quick trip to the grocery store to grab oranges, artichokes, lemons…these fun and quirky items added texture, whimsy, and life to the setting. And of course, it would not be a BC event if we didn’t pop some champagne to top off the table scape and then share it with our girl and photography wizard Rosie Cheeks Photography.

We can’t get over this bridal gown, perfect on Sierra, with its modern flair from Chantilly Couture. It was just right, perfect with the hair and makeup provided by Aimee Faith, and an amazing choice to fit with our fun vibe colorful vibe, while keeping it elegant with that timeless feel.

We are so fortunate to be surrounded with incredible clients, who have trusted us amidst such trying times, to be able to work with fantastic vendors who have been over backwards servicing our clients, and have supportive friends & teammates rooting for us in these times of uncertainty. We hope you too, have been able to bloom a little while planted, and find some color & sunshine during these crazy times.
